Collection: Tinted Mineral Sunscreen

Tinted mineral sunscreens that even skin tone while protecting it, from clean beauty brands.

Tinted mineral sunscreen

A tinted mineral sunscreen protects with zinc oxide (sometimes with titanium dioxide) and adds a sheer tint, which helps cancel out the white cast plain zinc can leave, especially on deeper skin tones. Every product here lists a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 or higher.

What we stock

How to use it

  • Apply generously, about a teaspoon for face and neck, as the last step of your morning routine.
  • Reapply at least every two hours outdoors and after swimming or sweating.
  • A tint doesn't replace enough sunscreen: if you only use a thin layer for coverage, you get less protection than the label SPF.

Questions

What is tinted mineral sunscreen?

A sunscreen that uses mineral filters such as zinc oxide and adds a tint, which helps reduce the white cast mineral sunscreens can leave.

Does tinted sunscreen protect as well as untinted?

It protects at its labeled SPF when you apply enough of it. Using a thin layer for coverage gives less protection than the label says.

Is tinted mineral sunscreen good for darker skin tones?

A tint can help mineral sunscreen blend in on deeper skin tones. Try it on your jawline first to check the shade.

How often should I reapply?

At least every two hours outdoors, and right after swimming, sweating or towel drying.
