Collection: Balmy Tallow

About Balmy Tallow

Balmy Tallow makes small-batch skin care built on rendered tallow, usually blended with olive oil and raw honey and finished with essential oils. The range is simple: a handful of balms in two sizes, plus a few everyday extras made on the same tallow base.

The balms

  • Unscented Tallow Balm (2 oz and 4 oz): grass-fed tallow, olive oil and raw honey with no added scent. The best place to start for faces and sensitive skin.
  • Eucalyptus Rose (2 oz and 4 oz): grass-fed tallow, olive oil and honey with eucalyptus and rose essential oils.
  • Golden Grove (2 oz and 4 oz): sandalwood, sweet orange and vanilla oils in a tallow-honey base.
  • Lemon Lavender (2 oz and 4 oz): made with lamb tallow, olive oil and honey, with citrus and lavender oils.
  • Vanilla Wagyu Tallow Balm (4 oz): Wagyu beef tallow with olive oil, manuka honey and vanilla oil. The most luxurious balm in the range.

Everyday extras

  • Peppermint Tallow Lip Balm: tallow, beeswax and raw honey with peppermint.
  • Citrus Vanilla Tallow Deodorant: aluminum-free, with grass-fed tallow, magnesium hydroxide and arrowroot powder. More options in natural deodorant.
  • Magnesium Bedtime Balm: grass-fed tallow, shea butter and magnesium oil with lavender, chamomile and cedarwood. See the magnesium collection.

How to use a tallow balm

Warm a pea-sized amount between your fingertips and press it into slightly damp skin after cleansing. Patch test first, especially on the face. Read our guide to beef tallow for skin, or compare every balm we stock in tallow skincare.

Questions

Which Balmy Tallow balm is best for sensitive skin?

Start with the Unscented Tallow Balm. It skips essential oils, which are a common source of irritation for reactive skin. Patch test on your inner arm before using it on your face.

What is the difference between the 2 oz and 4 oz balms?

They are the same formula in two sizes. The 2 oz tin is a good way to try a scent, and the 4 oz costs less per ounce once you know you like it.

Is the Lemon Lavender balm made with beef tallow?

No. The listing describes Lemon Lavender as made with lamb tallow, olive oil and honey. The other scented balms use grass-fed beef tallow, and the Vanilla Wagyu balm uses Wagyu tallow.

Does tallow balm melt in the heat?

Tallow softens in warm rooms and firms up again when cool. That is normal and does not affect the balm. Store it away from direct heat.
